Oshin Sahakian bids farewell to Iran national basketball team

TEHRAN – A long-time national team member Oshin Sahakian announced his retirement from the Iran national basketball team.

After 88-56 victory over Kazakhstan in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium in  FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers, Sahakian dropped the bombshell by announcing his retirement from national duty.

Sahakian, 32, was a member of Iran’s golden generation who won three gold medals in the Asian Championships in 2007 (Tokushima), 2009 (Tianjin) and 2013 (Manila).

He also helped Team Melli win three Asian Cup gold medals in 2012 (Tokyo), 2014 (Wuhan) and 2016 (Tehran).
